Greetings from Rosemary Conroy at Studio Buteo!I just wanted to let you know
of some exciting news and a few upcoming events this month.
See me on TV!
WMUR-TV will be featuring me on an upcoming “New Hampshire
Chronicle” which is scheduled to air Wednesday, May 21 at
7:30 pm. How cool is that? I’m now officially multi-media.
Tiffany Eddy came to my studio and interviewed me about my work and life.
Quite a thrill!
Going National:
First off, I am proud to announce that my painting, “Black Bear People
Are Dreamers III” has been juried into Art of the Animal Kingdom
XIII!

This is my first national wildlife art show and I am honored to have my work
selected for the show by none other than wildlife artist-rock star John Seerey-Lester.
The show will be held at the Bennington Center for the Arts in Bennington,
VT from June 14 through July 27, 2008.

Just Like DaVinci:
And if that wasn’t cool enough,
New Hampshire Magazine has named me one of their “Renaissance Women”
for 2008. Look for me in the May issue which is out now! Their website address
is: http://www.nhmagazine.com
This is quite an honor and I am in some great company. When it rains it pours
I guess!
Until May
24:
You can still see my last featured
artist show at East Colony Fine Art in Manchester, NH through Saturday, May
24, 2008. You can see my latest raven paintings plus my newest bears (including
the Black Bear People Are Dreamers series) and my new horses are there too.
Visit: http://www.eastcolony.com for
directions and hours.
Why am I leaving East Colony?
Well, I’ve had three great years at East Colony Fine Art but I really
need to paint more (and travel to Manchester less) so I can continue to build
up a solid body of work.
ART 3 Gallery
With the above in mind, I am quite honored to have been accepted
to show my work at Art 3 Gallery in Manchester. This is a very cool space
run by three very hip women and has been in business for more than 25 years.

UPCOMING THIS SUMMER & FALL:
OR WHAT I KNOW (WITHOUT MUCH DETAIL) SO FAR:
I sent in my application for the Sunapee Craftsman Fair
so look for my artwork at the new Hampshire Artist’s Association tent.
The show dates are August 2 through August 10, 2008. Here’s the link
for more details: http://www.nhcrafts.org/craftsmens_fair/craftsmensfair.html
The Beard Pond Art Group (Cheryl Christner, Gail Hersey, Karen Salerno
and myself) will be having another group show that will debut this September
at the New Hampton school Gallery, in New Hampton. The theme is “Flights
of Fancy.” Two years ago, we did a show called “Ponderings,”
which was great fun. That was about water, this one is about air – get
it get it?!
And I just found out that I will be the Artist-in-Residence for the Squam
Lakes Natural Science Center in Holderness for the month of September! This
is going to be a lot of fun. When details are finalized, you KNOW that I will
be posting them here.
YES: I will host another Open Studio at my place in Weare
this fall on Saturday, October 19, 2008. More details to come as they arise.
I hope to let you know about all the cool shows I get juried into, the fabulous
awards I plan to win, and stunning amounts of press and positive publicity
I intend to attract. In order to find out, you’ll have to come back
soon!
OTHER NOT NEW BUT STILL
COOL NEWS:
Grant Awarded:
I am quite honored to have received a 2007 Artist Entrepreneur Grant from
the New Hampshire State Council of the Arts this month. This grant, which
is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, helped me attend
a wildlife art workshop in Montana this summer. Entitled, “Capturing
the Essence,” the five-day intensive was led by acclaimed wildlife artist
Julie T. Chapman. It was totally awesome and I took about 2000 reference photos.
Look for an exhibit next year where I will showcase my results!
Honorable Mention now on-line:
My painting “Yellowstone Series; Magpie” has won an honorable
mention in the Artist’s Magazine first annual on-line competition! This
contest received more than 1,000 entries and only 16 awards (of which mine
was one) were given out. I am quite thrilled as you can imagine – my
first national recognition! The current issue (July 2007) lists all the winners
and you can see the honorable mentions’ artwork on their website at
http://www.artistsmagazine.com.
I am in some really great company!
The Fine Art of Raising
Chickens:
In the May 2007 issue of New Hampshire magazine, several of my chicken paintings
were featured as part of an article I wrote for them on the joys of keeping
chickens! It also feature photographs of four of my chickens, including the
famous Mr. Moe! Learn more about this wonderful publication at: http://www.nhmagazine.com.
New Gallery:
I’m also pleased to announce that I have been juried into the Sharon
Arts Center Gallery in Peterborough, NH. Check them out at: http://www.sharonarts.org/exhibitiongallery.htm.
