Capturer of Souls

First Permanent Collection!

Well, I've been waiting for confirmation on some big news and finally can tell you: my painting, "Capturer of Souls" (shown left) has become part of the permanent collection of the View Arts Center in Old Forge, New York! Whoo hoo!

I am very excited as this is my first permanent collection which feels like a big step in my career. Further collaborations with this wonderful place are in the works, so stay tuned!

Many, many thanks to Krissa Johnson and Gail Parker for making this happen.

Open Studio 2011: Success!

Thank you to everyone who came out for my open studio -- it was a blast! It's always so much fun to reconnect with current supporters and friends and of course, to meet new ones.

Plus I broke all my previous records for both sales and attendance. Very awesome indeed and it was wonderful to be able to write such a nice big check to the Piscataquog Land Conservancy! So thank you to everyone who came out and for your enthusiasm for my work. I can't express how much it means to me and how much it feeds my soul through the year.

Here's a photo from the beginning of my VIP brunch that I hold before the main event each year. It's one way I let my collectors know how much they mean to me. And since I'm half Italian, I try to show that appreciation by feeding them lots of good food, of course!

And I also want to thank Brenda Lind for her help during the entire open studio weekend -- you rock Brenda!

 Gone National!

My painting, "Capturer of Souls" (see above) was juried into "Art of the Animal Kingdom XVI!"

This is the second time I've made it into this prestigious national show! I'm so thrilled.

The juror was Luke Frazier, one of the premier wildlife artists of our day.

Apparently, hundreds of people entered, but only 60 pieces were selected!

As Seen in Northern Woodlands Magazine

rgchare-lo.jpgMy painting, Earth Keeper Series: Snowshow Hare will be in the Winter 2010 issue of Northern Woodlands magazine. I've been a fan of this wonderful publication for many years -- so it's quite an honor.

Older But Still Cool News:

Grass-fed Beef article in April 2010 issue of New Hampshire Magazine:

Here's a link in case you missed it. It's a piece I wrote and illustrated about growing grass-fed beef cattle in New Hampshire. Let me know what you think!

daylikenoother-lo.jpgNew Hampshire Home Illustration:

I'm very happy wth the way my piece looked in the November 2009 issue of New Hampshire Home Magazine! I was quite honored to be able to illustrate the lovely essay by Sy Montgomery, who has had a big influence in my life -- she was not only my journalism professor in grad school but also helped me get my first post-grad job at the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. I consider her a dear friend and of course, an amazing writer and naturalist.

EVEN Older but Still Cool News:

WMUR-TV featured me on an episode of “New Hampshire Chronicle”which aired Wednesday, May 21, 2008. How cool is that? I'm now officially multi-media. Tiffany Eddy came to my studio and interviewed me about my work and life. Quite a thrill! See it by clicking here.

This is exciting: My painting, "Black Bear People Are Dreamers III” was juried into the 2008 Art of the Animal Kingdom XIII! This was my first national wildlife art show and I am so honored to have my work selected for the show by none other than wildlife artist-rock star John Seerey-Lester. The show was held at the Bennington Center for the Arts in Bennington, VT.

And if that wasn't cool enough, in May 2008 New Hampshire Magazine named me one of their “Renaissance Women" for 2008. Here's a pdf of the piece. Thanks to Rick Broussard and Susan Laughlin for making me sound and look so good! It was quite an honor and I am in some great company.
